Frequently Asked Questions
Is laminate flooring waterproof?
In some cases, yes, but certainly not always. More often than not laminate flooring is NOT waterproof. If water is allowed to penetrate the spaces between the planks, it can absorb into the flooring and make it expand. This destroys the plank and potentially the surrounding planks due to the expansion.
What is the acclimation process for hardwood floors?
Acclimating hardwood flooring to the environment where it will be installed is a prerequisite to installing the product. There is a common misconception in the industry that bringing hardwood flooring to the job site and letting it sit will acclimate it properly. To be acclimated properly, hardwood needs to be removed from its box and “sticker-stacked” in a crossing fashion, allowing air to circulate between the boards. Allow the hardwood flooring to acclimate in this position for at least 72 hours.
Where can bamboo flooring be installed?
Bamboo can be installed over almost any subfloor, either by nailing it down, gluing it down, or letting it float. It can also be installed with or without mastic.
